Redesigns

This is a personal redesign project of John Gwynne's The Shadow of the Gods (2021), the first book in the iconic trilogy. For this project, I envisioned what a hard cover edition might look like. Several details, like the Celtic-inspired knotwork border and the embossed spear, were originally completed in Adobe Illustrator and then later migrated into Photoshop. 

Both the shield and spear are heavily based on Viking-style weaponry, in an effort to stay as true to the author's vision as possible. I had a lot of fun playing with the textures and color palettes. My initial design included golden undertones but I eventually settled on silver — I think this decision is more in line with the book's aesthetic.
